THE WESTERN TRAIL TO SKUTAN
Today, Vera and I hiked the western trail to the top of Åreskutan (Trail 214). The trail is 7.6 km long with a steep ascent of 860 meters. The weather was absolutely perfect, and the mood was high!
We started at Fjällgården and initially made our way through a fair amount of forest, which was a bit tiring but offered some beautiful views along the way. Eventually, we reached Hummelstugan, where we took a short break and, of course, snapped a photo by the Åre sign.
After that, we climbed a loooong staircase, and then the terrain became steeper and more rugged, but also much more enjoyable to hike. Vera kept a steady pace, and I found myself struggling to keep up as we neared the summit!
Once we reached the summit at 1420 meters, we treated ourselves to a waffle at Toppstugan. On the way down, I had promised Vera we'd take the cable car, and it was actually pretty nice. What a day it turned out to be!
