SEASON PREMIERE TO BISKOPSÖN
On Saturday, I launched Luffa, and by evening, the guys came over so we could step the mast. The following morning, we cast off for a sail out into the archipelago. The season is finally underway!
At first, the weather was rather gloomy, but gradually the clouds began to break up, and the sun finally made an appearance.
We first sailed south, rounding the southern tip of Fjärdlång before heading up to Norsten, where we docked on the eastern side. But shortly after we dropped anchor, the wind suddenly shifted 180 degrees, coming straight at us from behind. We took a walk around Norsten, a former military base, but it felt a bit uncertain to stay there. So, we decided to sail up to Koxviken, which is a reliable spot for almost any wind direction, except from the north.
When we arrived at Biskopsön, we fired up the grill and enjoyed some delicious burgers, watching the sunset in a peaceful atmosphere. We were the only ones in Koxviken, so fenders weren’t exactly necessary.
On the way home, we decided to try the new course for stage 4 of the Gullviverally. It was fun and offered more variety, with a short tack, even though the course was a bit shorter than before. Had we sailed the old course, we would have had a downwind run almost all the way to the finish. It turned out to be a lovely, albeit slightly chilly, debut for 2023. Now, we’re gearing up for the Gullviverally in two weeks!
